HiFL 2019: A New Dawn for Collegiate Coaches in Nigeria

Like a gift that just keeps on giving, the drama and excitement-laden 2019 season of the Higher Institutions Football League has recently unveiled a game changing experience in the form of a Coaching Clinic for top varsity coaches from all parts of the country taking part in the competition.

The clinic aptly named “Coaching the Coaches” is powered by Premier Cool, one of the key sponsors of the 2019 season in conjunction with European giants, Manchester City football club and will take place from the 3^rd– 5^thof July, 2019 in Lagos. The event is aimed at educating the coaches on the latest trends in player’s development and preparations, tactical innovations among others and will include sessions on man management and player preparation as well as classes on mental and educational aspects among others to be handled by the coaches from Manchester City. After the 2-day event, the Varsity Coaches will then embark on a courtesy visit to the Head Office of PZ Cussons, makers of Premier Cool where they will be received by the MD of the company.

In a statement, Head of Marketing, PZ Cussons Consumer, Mr. Charles Nnochiri expressed the rationale behind sponsoring HiFL and the 2019 coaching clinic as a part of the company’s vision of delivering sustainable value to everyone, everywhere. “One of our values at PZ Cussons has always been to add value wherever we find ourselves, as such we thought it best to merge the best of both worlds – our sponsorship of HiFL along with our partnership with global football powerhouse, Manchester City FC. Speaking on this ground breaking event, Chief Strategy Officer, PACE Sports and Entertainment Marketing, Mr. Olamide Adeyemo expressed his excitement with the initiative and praised Premier Cool for its efforts in putting it together: “From the outset of HiFL, it has long been our dream and hope that the platform will provide opportunities for growth and development not just for the players but also for every stakeholder in the spectrum including the coaches. As such, we are excited to have coaches from a top club like Manchester City FC on hand to train the coaches. On his part, HiFL Technical Coordinator and Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) Technical Chairman, Dr. Nick Igbokwe, thanked the sponsors for their efforts in putting the event together and praised their drive and commitment in developing collegiate sports. “Improving the coaches will surely go a long way in raising the standard of the competition and quality of play.
