The World Health Organization and several other global health authorities including the NCDC have continuously emphasized the importance of keeping clean hands through handwashing, as we collectively battle Covid-19 out of our environment. Even with the lockdown extension, announced by the presidency, the numbers have done nothing but rise and this has become a source of concern to many.

The most common way to contract the virus is by keeping bacteria-infested hands, which cannot be easily detected with the physical eyes; unless placed under a fully functional microscope. Keeping dirty hands does nothing but put us at the risk of viral infection. This is why we’ll like to remind ourselves about the benefits of handwashing and how exactly it should be done to ensure our hands don’t play host to coronavirus.

That said, when is it compulsory to wash our hands especially in delicate times like this.

  • Before, during, and after preparing food.
  • Before eating food.
  • Before and after treating a cut or wound.
  • Before touching your eyes, nose, or mouth (if you compulsorily have to)
  • After using the toilet.
  • After blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • After touching/disposing of garbage.
  • After being in a public place and touched an item or surface that may be frequently touched by other people, such as door handles, tables, gas pumps, shopping carts, or electronic cashier registers/screens, etc.

Paying attention and being intentional about handwashing and general personal hygiene according to World Health standards is highly imperative at the moment. This is part of the reason there has been a directive for us all to stay at home. However, some of us are essential workers and we cannot avoid not stepping out at all. Keeping clean hands then becomes the most important preventive measure of all to curb the spread of the viral coronavirus.

Possible Ways That Coronavirus Spread:

  • Touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Preparing or eating food with unwashed hands.
  • Touching contaminated surfaces or objects.
  • Coughing or sneezing into hands and then touching other people’s hands or common objects.
  • Staying within three (3) to six (6) of someone infected.
  • Body contact with anyone either showing symptoms or asymptomatic.

Remember, handwashing is a sure way to keep us all healthy and prevent the spread of coronavirus infections from one person to the next. Also, as a member of the chilled squad, we do not want you to be among those who either fully rely on sanitizers without washing their hands at all or those who don’t even wash their hands properly.

Handwashing with premier cool or any Antibac soap close by, and water is the best way to get rid of germs. Afterwards, we can then use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer to rub our hands well. Ensure it is an alcohol-based sanitizer by looking at the product label. You may, however, want to note that sanitizers can quickly reduce the number of germs on our hands but they do not get rid of all types of germs.

Hand sanitizers might not remove harmful chemicals like pesticides and heavy metals from our hands and they may not be as effective when hands are visibly dirty or greasy. This is why handwashing is the most effective way to prevent the spread of germs. Clean hands can stop germs from spreading from one person to another and throughout an entire community—from your home and workplace to public facilities and hospitals.

How to Carry Out Handwashing Correctly

Wet your hands with clean, running water (warm or cold), turn off the tap, and apply Premier Cool soap.

Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails.

Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds.

Rinse your hands well under clean, running water.

Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them.

Handwashing gives you all the upper hand needed against coronavirus and while it is important to keep you safe, handwashing helps to keep people around you and your immediate community safe from being infected with the coronavirus.

Stay Protected. Stay Premier Cool.
